Ms. Ellen Keister was born in Portland, Oregon, USA to Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Salimatu Keister, natives of Sierra Leone. With her family having relocated to Sierra Leone when Ms. Keister was just a little girl, she was raised in the capital, Freetown, where she attended both primary and secondary Schools.
After spending several years in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Ms. Keister moved back to the United States in 1996 and finished both high school and college education. She graduated with honors from David Douglas High School in Portland, Oregon, and acquired a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2004 from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. After receiving her college degree, Ms. Keister began working in the United States, at management levels in the social services field, with specific work in the
areas of mental health, autism, and adult rehabilitation. Her tenure of work included serving as a Supported Employment Manager with Community Services for Autistic Adults and Children (CSAAC), as a
Case Manager with the District of Columbia Government’s Mental Retardation Developmental Disability Administration (MRDDA), and as a Rehabilitation Coordinator with Rehabilitation Services Inc. in
Maryland.Throughout her years in the United States, however, Ms. Keister made several trips to Sierra Leone, falling in love with her parent’s homeland all over again. In April of 2008, she made the big decision to
relocate to Sierra Leone and to help develop the country in her own small little way. Her contribution to the people of Sierra Leone began as Ms. Keister worked with several different organizations throughout
Freetown, and volunteering some of her time and experience to different causes. While giving a helping hand to the nation, Ms. Keister slowly edged her way into working in another area that she has had a passion and a natural flare for, for a very long time – that is the growing entertainment industry of Sierra Leone. Following her immersion into the entertainment industry, Ms. Keister was a “quick like” by the people of Sierra Leone and became a sough after MC and Presenter. She has been solicited to host or
co-host events and shows around Freetown, such as the annual Madengn Beach Festival, the television show call U Sabi Dance (Krio for can you dance), as well as musical concerts. Having gained notoriety and
success in this arena, Ms. Keister ventured in 2010, to host her own television show, appropriately called The Ellen Keister Chat Room. This popular show attracted a diverse audience group and dealt with issues
involving relationships and life, it aired on the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC TV).In addition to working in the entertainment industry in Sierra Leone, Ms. Keister has also remarkably found the time to work with some of the incredible people around her, to start up and register her
company in Sierra Leone. She is currently the CEO/Founder of Reems Services SL Limited, a company that deals with marketing, branding, events, activations, procurement and entertainment of which our
goal is to exceed the expectation of our clients. Our entertainment sector is a record label called Reems Entertainment, which envisions to change the image of Sierra Leone entertainment. With this organization, Ms. Keister continues to accomplish her dreams of being an influential contributor to the entertainment image and industry of Sierra Leone, and also helping and caring for others in need, and also with her partner Marie Carrol, making Reems Services SL Limited the biggest company in Sierra Leone.
Ms. Keister currently host a TV Show called “Real Talk with Ellen” a show that deals with lifestyle and choices, on AYV TV. She hosted a musical show, called Ur airtel Playlist showcasing the top 10 videos
texted in by viewers, and this show was powered by Airtel, one of Africa’s largest GSM wireless communication companies. This show was debuted May 2011 airing on the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) of which she stepped down in January 2017 to focus on her new venture. She is currently the producer for Orange Da Playlist, powered by one of our clients, Orange SL Ltd (former airtel) and is also the media, communications, policy consultant for Marie Stopes Sierra Leone
Despite her busy schedule, Ms. Keister loves to spend quality time and taking care of herself, while remaining a woman with a good sense of humor, she enjoys her hobbies of listening to music, watching
movies, and hanging out, family and friends. Ms. Keister is driven by her belief that success is a journey and not a destination, and for to you achieve anything in life you have to believe in yourself. It is her belief in herself that has gotten Ms. Ellen S. N. Keister this far. And by the special grace of God, the best is yet to come for this daughter of Sierra Leone.
